Team Insights from the NASA 4D Course

In December 2024, a team member participated in the NASA 4D Leadership Course, run by Crazy Might Work. This course proved to be highly valuable, and they enjoyed every session. The content was both insightful and practical, with many activities designed to deepen understanding of each concept taught. One of the activities allowed participants to discover their personal innate preferences.

A personal innate preference looks at logic versus intuition. For example, some individuals might rely more on gut instincts to solve problems, while others prefer a more logical approach. Similarly, when gathering information, some focus more on facts, while others may prioritize intuition or debate. In this activity, participants had to choose between pairs of statements, tally the results, and receive a score. This exercise was particularly interesting, providing deeper insight into how team members approach problem-solving.

The results of this activity were shared within the team, and everyone was encouraged to take part. As shown in the results, the team is well spread across all four quadrants. By completing this exercise, team members gained a better understanding of each other's preferences, both personally and professionally.

This exercise is particularly helpful for teams, as it fosters better understanding among members and enhances collaboration. It provides insight into how different individuals approach tasks and challenges. When a new team comes together to deliver a project, establishing trust and setting clear boundaries early on is essential to minimizing risk and conflict during the project’s delivery. Exercises like this one offer valuable early insight into team dynamics and establish a strong foundation for success.
